Websites that Big Joe recommends: Skippy's List For anyone who has been in the military, in fact for anyone at all - great stuff. Michal Levy has produced a great film featuring John Coltrane's Giant Steps. The film features graphic animations and shapes which correspond and illustrate the harmonic structure of the tune and Coltrane's solo in a very fun and interesting way. Airmen of Note - this is the unofficial website of the Airmen of Note, and is a good source for the Note's history, MP3's, etc. Bonecat.com - Trombonist Ben Patterson's site - his new CD is great, you can buy it online. alanbaylock.com - Home to one of the best young big band writers on the scene. He put out a pretty good big band CD a couple of years ago, although the third trombonist was kind of a jerk. Alan's a good guy, however he's from Pennsylvania. The Dallas Cowboys - Take a virtual walk through the hallowed halls of the Camelot of professional sports. The Onion - America's Finest News Source. I subscribe to the paper version. Golden Heart Yoga - I've been taking yoga since 2000, and it's really changed my life. Malkovich Malkovich, Malkovich Digital Photography Review - Whether you are into photography like I am or not - this is an incredibly impressive site - one of my favorites. The Tastee Brothers - There are people on this planet that would give one of the first three fingers on their right hand to do what these guys do. There are many more people that would do the same to avoid what they do. Lead trumpeters - you can't live with them, and nobody wants to hear a trombone band. Ed Neumeister - A trombonist I respect very much. Official Air Force Band Website - You have to remove your hat to enter. Come here for a schedule of the Airmen of Note's upcoming gigs, MP3s galore, as well as an electronic rendition of Cadenza, the Air Force Band newsletter. Online Trombone Journal Forum - I love this place - about 2500 trombonists in an idea marketplace. Actually, that sounds like some people's idea of hell. David Deutsch Home Page - This cat knows something. Highlights include an interview he gave in 1992 addressing the tragic inability of parents to grasp the profound value of video games in the lives of their children. Sam Burtis - A great site by a wonderful player and tremendous person. bt: brain terminal - this guy is pretty right-of-center, but I think he's funny. This Is Spinal Tap - There's a little Tap in the lives of every musician on this planet... www.painterchick.com - Artist Jean Perkins' site, which I designed. www.traditional-healing.net - Acupuncturist/Massage Therapist Marty Perkins' site, which I designed. |
